Similarity measures between images
M Van Heel - Ultramicroscopy, 1987 - Elsevier
A recurring problem in image analysis and three-dimensional reconstruction is how best to
compare two independent images. Commonly used measures such as the cross-correlation
coefficient are insufficient indicators of image similarity. In this paper two functional
measures, the phase residual and the Fourier ring correlation, are discussed in that context.
